Terms of Service
These terms cover what Dictaro provides, what we expect from you, and what happens when something goes wrong. Read them before you sign up.
1. Who these terms are with
This is an agreement between you (the "User") and MEDIA.COM Slovakia s.r.o., a company registered in the Slovak Republic, which provides Dictaro ("the Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you accept these terms.
2. What the Service is
Dictaro is a voice-to-text application for Microsoft Windows backed by an EU-hosted Whisper large-v3 speech recognition API. The desktop app captures audio when you press a hotkey, streams it to our servers in Slovakia, returns the transcript, and pastes it where your cursor is.
We do not guarantee a specific accuracy level, language coverage, or uptime. Speech recognition is probabilistic and may produce errors, especially with noisy audio, strong accents, or domain-specific vocabulary. You are responsible for reviewing transcripts before relying on them.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- You provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, including securing your password and API keys.
- You may not share your account or sell access to it. Each API key is meant for a single user; team use requires a Business plan once that launches.
- If you suspect your credentials or API key have been compromised, contact support@dictaro.eu and revoke the affected key in the dashboard.
4. Free tier and paid plans
During launch the Service is free to use, subject to fair-use limits documented on the pricing page. Paid plans (Individual €9/mo, Business €29/seat/mo, Enterprise on request) are scheduled to launch in Q2 2026. Until then no payment is collected.
When billing starts:
- We will give existing users at least 30 days' notice by email.
- Subscriptions renew monthly unless cancelled before the next billing date.
- Cancellation stops future billing; previously paid periods are not refunded except where required by law.
- Refunds for unused service after a confirmed product defect will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to process audio you do not have the legal right to record or transcribe.
- Submit content that is illegal, defamatory, threatening, or designed to harass.
- Attempt to extract our models, reverse-engineer the desktop client beyond what local copyright law permits, or interfere with the operation of the API.
- Bypass quotas, share API keys across many users, or resell raw transcription capacity to third parties without a Business or Enterprise agreement.
- Use the Service to build a competing product or train a competing speech-recognition model.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.
6. Your content
You keep all rights to the audio you submit and to the transcripts we return. We do not retain audio (it is processed in memory and discarded) and we do not use your transcripts to train models. The only thing we store about your usage is metered counters: how many calls, when, from which key.
7. Our software
The Dictaro desktop application, server-side Whisper deployment, dashboard, and brand assets are owned by MEDIA.COM Slovakia s.r.o. or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the desktop application on devices you control while your account is active. Open-source components are governed by their own licences.
8. Service availability
The Service is provided on an "as is" basis during the free launch period. We will work to keep it running but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. Once paid plans launch we will publish a service-level commitment for paying customers.
9. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard or by emailing support@dictaro.eu. We will delete personal data per the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, abuse the Service, or attempt fraud or illegal activity. Where possible we give notice and a chance to fix the issue first.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by Slovak law, neither party is liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, or lost data arising from use of the Service. For paying users, our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid in that period or €100, whichever is greater. For free users the cap is €100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as for gross negligence or intentional misconduct).
11. Disclaimer about transcription accuracy
Transcripts may contain errors. Do not rely on Dictaro alone for legal, medical, financial, or safety-critical content without human review. We are not responsible for losses caused by acting on an incorrect transcript.
12. Privacy
Use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service grows. Material changes will be announced by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date counts as acceptance.
14. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. Disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be heard by the competent courts of Bratislava, Slovak Republic, unless mandatory consumer-protection rules give you the right to bring the case in your country of residence.
15. Contact
